about

This song was written for our mom's upcoming wedding. It tells the true story of a classified ad that she wrote years ago, asking for her ideal partner, and finally finding him.

lyrics

I wrote a letter, back in my single days
Asking for the man of my dreams
I felt a little foolish, for asking what I wrote
There’s no way a man like that could be

I wrote that letter, and posted it online
Put it out there for the Universe to fulfill
I was happy being single, so I made my wishes big
And turned down all who didn’t fit the bill

I want a man to hold my hand
Who'll listen and hear what I have to say
I want a man to dance with me all night
Who loves me true in each and every way

I want a man, to hold me ju-ust right
Who’s proud to walk beside me on the street
I want a man, who believes in me
Who'll pray at night my soul to keep

I took that letter, and put it in a box
Giving up on ever finding love that way
I'd rather wait for him to fall from the sky
So I focused on myself for today

I fought for freedom, chanced it on my own
Dared to show my true self and believe
That true love was out there, it could fall from the sky
And when the time was right, love would come to me

Then you came along, and held my embrace
You were happy holding hands and touchin' toes
When you came along, you gave me my space
And I wanted more and more to have you close

Then you came along, and held my heart
You were proud, to have me with you in your life
When you came along, you danced with my soul
And now you’re asking me to be your wife

I found that letter, in that box the other day
Dusted off and read through my old words
Suddenly I realized, the man that I’d wished for
Somewhere; somehow, the Universe had heard

Yes, you came along, and now I believe
Listen to my heart, I know it’s true
With you, I belong; I've found my place
And now the time is right to say “I do”
Yes, now the time... is right to say... I do
